But the truth is that the opposite of love is: FEAR.
There are only two emotions that every other gradation of emotion flows ... one is love-based
and the other fear-based.
Many people have trained themselves to operate from a fear-based belief system. Most have been indoctrinated from a very young age to be wary of much in their environment by those who ARE wary of much in their environment. It is human nature to do so.
There is no fear in love; but (rather) perfect love casteth out fear: because fear has torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18
Many religious people speak more of the fear of God than of His love and they worship Him out of fear and punishment either in this world or in hell ... OR they hope for a reward someday in a heavenly realm after they die ... OR they are afraid not to worship Him for fear some calamity or catastrophe will befall them in this life. This kind of fear has commonly had it roots in the pulpit of many of the faithful ... even to this day!
In truth, there is absolutely no benefit whatsoever to living in a fear-based belief system! Yet most of our civilized (and I use the term loosely) world does just that! For many, part of their human experience this lifetime is to transcend that fear-based approach to life and learn to understand that God's love is unconditional.
You, my friends, are a part of God Himself and therefore, also pure Love.
Love is the only true reality in the souls' relationship with our Creator. Love unites us with our God and this is the beginning and the end of all that is.
When we operate from a fear-based belief system ... we widen the "gap" with God (Our Creator, All-That-Is, Spirit, Infinite Intelligence, Source Energy, etc. it matters not what we call it) and our own consciousness.
Widening the gap between our Creator and ourselves gives us a sense of separation. Separation from our Creator never really occurs but when we resist the love for us, we feel as if we are not getting the support that we need to live life here on planet earth.
And, if our beliefs remain rooted in fear ... then, our reality will begin to give evidence to those beliefs:
We will find evidence to back up our beliefs that ,
"Everyone is against us." That that person betrayed us ... That our Government is the cause of all that goes wrong in our lives ... That our neighbor is unreasonable ... That the religion, or sexual orientation or ethnic background of another is the reason for our woes ... as you can imagine, the list would be never-ending IF we operate from a fear-based belief system.
And the greatest of these is LOVE ... love your neighbor as yourself ... and above all ... LOVE GOD.
LOVE is that common source that links us with the God of our understanding. And the God of our understanding is part of our very own being... and from whence we all came. It is our Source.
Love is not only our source but the source for ALLTHAT IS in the Universe.
"If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all that I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind.It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered as it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Why would we fear anything with God on our side?
God is "on" everyone's side! That Source Energy is the epitomy of unconditional love ... because our Source is impartial. God and love are interchangeable.
There is no favored nation nor religion nor culture ... we are all equal in the eyes of Our Creator ... and we all have the birthright to that unconditional love and well-being.
It is our own resistance to that love that keeps us from receiving all that has been intended for us. Metaphorically speaking, it is when we choose to turn our backs on our Source that makes us sense that separation. Our Source never turns away from us ... it is always our choice to stay connected or not.
It is time to close that gap between YOU and the God of your understanding! It is time to step out of that fear-based belief system and begin to trust in the process of life.
In order to claim the good life that is rightfully ours ... we need to retrain our thinking into that of a love-based belief system.
Just as the indoctrination into a fear-based belief system was due to our training and experiences that we have picked up along life's path, we can also train ourselves back into the love-based belief system that is our birthright AND the basis for the true nature of our soul .
Once you become aware of your current emotional placement, you can begin to create a conscious and deliberate effort to move up that emotional scale toward restoring your link to God ... which is LOVE.
That is WHY Jesus told us to (above all else) Love the Lord Your God . As Jesus knew all too well, that in order to maintain or restore the well-being that was rightfully ours, we had to ensure that conscious connection with our God. He also knew that that God is part of all of us.
Jesus knew that remaining in a state of love and apprecia-tion would bring only the highest and best for us in this life and the next. He was giving us a Universal Law...not a commandment. It was for our own benefit if we would take that law and live by it ... it was not because God (or Source Energy) needed to be loved by man. God is no respector of man ... as Source Energy is impartial.

Check over the above list and decide upon the category of your emotional state at this time. Realize that the further away from number one, which is LOVE, the bigger your gap is from your Source or God. Make it your goal to narrow that gap. It's not difficult to slowly make it up the emotional scale, but do not attempt to get there over-night. There are many natural methods of reaching love ... and you can learn what suits you best just by paying attention to how you feel all day, every day.
Remember that if you feel good, you are connected to you Source ... and if you feel not-so-good, you have begun to widen the gap between you and your God. Your natural emotions are your guidance system ... so, if you feel a discord ... then stop what you are thinking, doing or acting upon ... and begin reaching for another thought that you know makes you smile. Soon, you will be on your way to a more fulfilling and loving life once you have yourself understanding that YOU are in control of YOUR reality!
So, it is not from the pulpit that this article of love is presented ... but with the understanding of a Universal Law: The Law of Attraction which states ... that which is like unto itself is drawn. The Universe is a cosmic mirror ... and reflects back to you what you emit. Would it not be prudent, then, to strive to emit love and appreciaiton?
If you hold yourself in a state of love and appreciation only love and appreciation can come to you. It is Law.
